Marjis parents sent her to Europe because they thought it was too dangerous for her to stay in iraq. I think it was a bad decision because she had to live on her own and she made horrible choices and fell down some really bad paths. She got in with the wrong crowd and got into drugs and sex and just nothing good. I think she should have stayed with her parents or her parents should have come with her. Or at least a relative to stay with her so she wouldn’t have to figure all of this new life out alone. It was so new to her because all of this stuff was banned where she came from , so she went crazy with it.

Marjane found it hard to fit back in with Iranian society because she had gotten used to a completely different culture and way of life. Most of the things that were banned in Iran, weren’t where she had just come from. She got used to her new way of life; therefore when she came back home, it was like she was starting all over in a new society. She had to get used to Iranian society once again. She had to get used to the veil again, being almost fully covered again, and all the other strict rules. She was scared that when her family came to welcome her back, they would know about her "European failure(satrapi 258)." She was catching up with her friends, and they were asking about Europe , and she was very uncomfortable talking about it because she had made extremely poor decisions and was ashamed of the things she did.
