In the book Persepolis , women have to be fully clothed at all times. They have to wear veils to cover their hair. They’re not allowed to show any skin or hair. The adults think that any hair women show , stimulates men, which is not true. Any women caught in public not wearing a veil would be punished by the government. They might even be killed. They can’t kill virgins though. The veil is called a burka or hijab. Headscarves are now seen as a sign of modesty and a symbol of religious faith. There are different types of head scarves the women must chose from to wear. They have a hijab, niqab, burka, al-amira, shayla, khimar, and the chador.
I enjoyed doing the transcription because it was the only thing i could do. I was out sick for almost the whole week, so i was not able to attend the interview, but i did get feedback from my partners, and i listened to the audio and did my part of the transcription. It sounded really fun, and i think everyone did a really good job. Izzie was a pretty good interviewer i guess. I wish i could have been able to attend the interview, but I couldn’t.
